Dr Ravi Subramaniam, grew up in Sandakan, and graduated from The University of Leeds Medical School, United Kingdom in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology and an MBChB. He started his medical career in the Yorkshire Deanery UK , before moving to New Zealand in 2005. In New Zealand he served as a Medical Registrar, with the Hawkes Bay District Health Board before moving to Auckland DHB. He continued to work as a Medical Registrar and subsequently as a Cardiology Registrar attached to the Cardiology Unit at Counties Manukau DHB. In 2009, he was appointed as the Diabetic Research Fellow for The Centre of Clinical Research and Effective Practice (CCREP) at the Counties Manukau DHB.
In 2012 , he returned home to Malaysia, to serve the Ministry of Health. He was attached to The Sabah Heart Centre in Kota Kinabalu for the first 2 years. He then decided to pursue a career in Primary Care/ Family Medicine and was attached to Klinik Kesihatan Sandakan. The stint allowed him to gain a valuable insight into primary care. In 2018, he opened Signal Hill Clinic in Kota Kinabalu.
Since its inception, Signal Hill Clinic, like all clinics, has had to endure various obstacles, including a COVID-19 Pandemic. During the pandemic, Dr Ravi had taken time off to volunteer as a frontliner with MERCY Malaysia, helping an overstretched medical service deal with the plight of COVID-19. In 2021, he briefly embarked on a journey to New Zealand, where he worked as a GP in a rural practice in the Manuwatu region, gaining valuable insight into the practice of medicine in a rural setting.
He has obtained his Graduate Certificate in Family Medicine under the Academy of Family Physicians Malaysia. He brings with him vast experience in both general medicine as well as general practice, with special interest in diabetes management and cardiovascular health. He has been involved in various Phase III Clinical trials involving diabetes and cardiovascular care both in New Zealand and in Malaysia. He has presented his various research work in several international conferences.
He is registered with the General Medical Council UK (GMC), New Zealand Medical Council (MCNZ) as well as the Malaysian Medical Council(MMC).
